Advanced Battery Protection is in One UI 6 after all

In recent weeks, a lot of news about One UI 6.1 has reached the Internet and some of them are really interesting and there are many users who want to get their hands on them. However, you may not need to wait that long for this new software update. User Sabarinath Panikken discovered that the One UI 6.1 Advanced Battery Protection feature already exists in the current One UI 6 software.

In fact, this is a great new feature and is relatively easy to activate. To do this, you just have to look for the “batterypro” or “batteryprotectionactivity” application for this purpose. The AndroidAuthority website tried and managed to activate this function on the Galaxy S23 Ultra running One UI 6. However, the truth is that even when activated this function still does not work.

The new advanced battery protection system is a little different from the current option. That said, there is more control over charging your smartphone. The current functionality only allows the phone to reach 85% capacity while charging.

However, One UI 6.1 functionality offers three distinct charging options for greater flexibility. The basic option charges the cell phone to 100% and only continues charging when the cell phone drops to 95% capacity. The adaptive option is similar to other smart charging solutions, pausing at 80% and then reaching 100% just before waking up. Finally, the “maximum protection” option is in line with the Protect battery feature, as the phone completely stops charging when the battery reaches 80% capacity.

Both the old and new features aim to reduce the number of charging cycles over time to preserve long-term battery health. In general terms, subjecting your phone to more charging cycles (i.e. fully charging and discharging the phone) causes the device’s battery to retain less charge over time.

Either way, it looks like Advanced Battery Protection won’t be restricted to the Galaxy S24 range. So if you have an older Galaxy phone and are concerned about battery health, this feature is for you.
