Electric car. There’s a charger that’s as quick as adding gas!

There is still a lot to say on the electrical side of the automotive world, more specifically, many doubts and features that still need to be substantially improved to convince the masses to swap the old combustion engine for the electric motor + battery combo.

One of the aspects is the planning that some trips involve, that is, what battery percentage you will have when you arrive at your destination, and whether or not you should charge it along the way. It’s something that simply doesn’t happen in a car running on diesel or gasoline, or rather, it can happen, but it means a stop of 2 or 3 minutes, while in an electric car it can mean a stop of 2 hours.

This is exactly why many of the development efforts are focused on loading, more specifically on its speed.

Therefore, very interestingly, the new super fast charger belongs to the Portuguese company Hellonext. A company that in turn promises charging in just 10 minutes for compatible electric cars.

Of course, 10 minutes is still not quite the same speed as going to a fuel pump, but… It would be a much more appealing number for the vast majority of consumers.

More specifically, the H2 480 electric charger offers a maximum charging power of 480Kw! Thus being able to charge a battery from 0 to 80% in around 10 minutes. Interestingly, in addition to individual power, this charger is capable of charging up to a maximum of 4 cars simultaneously.

However, it is necessary to take into account that despite the usefulness and practicality of fast charging technologies, this is a resource feature.

It’s not good for your car battery to always be charging quickly. This type of charging only makes sense on long trips in order to minimize downtime, and not on a day-to-day basis.
