Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally been officially announced, and there’s even a trailer on the Internet making its traditional rounds.
It is in the video that we can get some ideas about the story, the graphical evolution, the size of this new world of GTA, and of course… We can also see that Rockstar Games wants to launch the PC version of the game 1 year after the release of the versions for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
But… Does this make any sense?
GTA 6 for PC only in 2026? Why!? Is it a joke!?
Therefore, one of the main objectives of Sony and Microsoft when they both began developing their new generation consoles was undoubtedly to facilitate development by the studios. This is exactly why the hardware we see on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X is the same as what we can find on the PC side.
Of course it’s not “exactly” the same! Each brand (Sony and Microsoft) is responsible for its own development kits (hardware and software), while on the PC side things always depend on the working methods of each team and the game engine used.
Still, as you may have already noticed, there was an incredible approximation between the hardware that gives life to consoles, and the hardware that usually gives life to any PC focused on games.
However, even with all this information on the table, there are still those who say that Rockstar Games does not have the resources to release GTA 6 for the most important consoles on the market, while also launching a PC version. I say…FIGHTS!
Well, in case you didn’t know, a former Rockstar Games developer went public to say that the studio will not release a PC port of GTV 6, because there simply are no resources for it.
In other words, one of the studios on the face of the earth that does the least work in the field of development, and that makes the most money per project actually launched, does not have the “resources” (read money!) to develop… Or better yet, adapt a version for the PC.
This isn’t a lack of resources, it’s strategy!
Rockstar is now used to selling the same game a minimum of twice, with some luck at least 3 times. Now look at what happened with Vice City, San Andreas and GTA V. It’s been crazy about re-releases, remasters, remakes, etc… This is exactly why the studio never has much desire to make competing releases for various platforms. Rockstar Games knows how to play the game that this market is very well.
In other words, right from the start, fans of the PC world will buy the version for PS5 or Xbox Series S/X, even if they don’t have the console, and of course, when the game is re-released for the PC, with some improvements in the mix. , they will also buy the game for the PC. It’s a Win-Win strategy.
But everything is fine! Rockstar could just admit the situation, instead of making “excuses”.
