Kristen Stewart shines in Sundance thriller with 90% on Rotten Tomatoes

Kristen Stewart is the star of one of the most talked about films at the Sundance festival that has already won over critics and promises to leave no one indifferent.

The iconic Sundance Film Festival, which celebrates its 40th edition this year It’s already running full steam ahead since Thursday, January 18th, and will end on January 28th.

However, the big star of the Sundance festival seems to be the actress Kristen Stewart who received positive reviews for the science fiction “Love me”, by Andrew Zuchero & Sam Zucherowhere he stars opposite the winner of Emmy Steven Yeun and a romantic thriller that is the second film from the promising Rose Glass (“Saint Maud“).

In the film, Stewart plays reclusive gym manager Lou who ends up falling in love with Jackie (Katy O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder, who is on her way to Las Vegas to pursue her dream. As the romantic relationship between the two evolves, their love soon takes them down violent paths and everything gets worse when they are pulled into the web of Lou’s crime family.

In addition to Stewart and O’Brian, the cast also features Jena Malone, Dave Franco, Anna Baryshnikov, Keith Jardine and the nominee for four Oscars Ed Harris.

“Love Lies Bleeding” is the name of this romantic thriller that has stood out at the festival. At the Rotten Tomatoesthe work already has 90% critical approval, while in the Metacritic the average is 74.

A Variety believes that the feature film is a noir “that exceeds our expectations, but arrives where it should, in a place where even brave people need to go to extremes”.

In turn, the site RogerEbert.com highlights that not all of the bolder and more ambitious moves completely work, especially with regard to the frantic ending, “but that’s a minor complaint for a film that confirms that Glass is a great talent with an uncompromising vision.”

The praise is not just for the director and is also extended to the two protagonists, the Vulture says that “Stewart, who in her best work turns anxiety into poetry, has probably never been more vulnerable, and O’Brian displays a boldness that comes not only from her extraordinary physique, but also from an inner innocence she brings to her character.” .

“Love Lies Bleeding” is scheduled to premiere on March 8th on Portuguese cinemas.
