The Silent Service live-action series announced

The live-action film adaptation of the manga The Silent Service in Kaiji Kawaguchi premiered on September 29, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video and the streaming service announced that the story will continue in the form of a live-action series.

We thus know that in Chinmoku no Kantai Season 1: Tokyowan Daikaisen (Silent Service Season 1: The Battle of Tokyo Bay), the first six episodes will premiere on February 9th and episodes 7 and 8 will be released on February 16th.

The first four episodes will focus on never-before-seen scenes not portrayed in the film. Episodes 5 to 8 will tell a continuation of the story.

The actor Takao Osawa (live-action Sky High, Tsukiji Uogashi Sandaime), a self-confessed fan of the manga, plays Shiro Kaieda.

he Silent Service was released on Morning from 1988 to 1996 and the work has already inspired an anime special in 1996 animated by the studio Sunrise. It later had a two-episode OVA in 1997 and 1998.

Synopsis of The Silent Service

In the story, Shiro Kaieda is appointed captain of Japan’s first nuclear submarine, built in secret by Japan and the United States. However, he and his 76 crew members fail to follow orders in this story that delves into themes of nuclear war, international politics and world peace.
