This alone eliminates mold and limescale in the washing machine!

Washing machines are, without a doubt, one of the appliances that work the hardest at home. Over time, washing machines can build up mold and limescale, which can cause your clothes to smell unpleasant.

Although there are many chemical methods for removing mold and limescale, using everyday products found in store cupboards is less aggressive and is often much cheaper.

Clean the washing machine after using it

Washing machines can build up mold and limescale, which can make clothes smell unpleasant. To prevent the build-up of limescale and mold, you should clean your washing machine every two months.

This is easier and less time-consuming than it seems. The main areas to treat are the detergent drawer, drum, seals, window and filter.

First, locate the filter and remove it. It’s at the bottom of the machine. When you remove it, if you don’t normally do it, it will probably smell rotten. Soak the filter in a bucket of warm water with one part white vinegar, while cleaning other areas of the machine.

Attention to the filter box

If you can get to the inside of the filter housing, clean that area with a vinegar spray, which is antibacterial and destroys the mold spores found there.

The same vinegar spray and a cloth can be used to clean all seals inside the washing machine. This method can also be used to clean the inner drum and window.

Meanwhile, to make the washing machine window shine, finish it with half a lemon. This should also refresh the inside of the machine.

The washing machine’s detergent drawer also needs to be removed and thoroughly cleaned to remove any soap residue.

Fabric softener may contain certain animal fats that can cause blockages and mold growth inside washing machines.

Clean the filter

So go back to your filter and scrub it gently with an old toothbrush or dish brush when it reaches the end of its dishwashing life.

Then, repeat the steps in the detergent drawer and check the inside using white vinegar spray and a cloth to clean it.

However, white vinegar can be purchased online or in local supermarkets and will cost very little.
