Named after good precursors such as Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice and the Directors Guild of America AwardsGerwig ended up suffering the fate of Dennis Villeneuve (“Dune”) or Martin McDonagh (“Three billboards on the side of the road“) and be left out of the final list of nominations. The same happened to Margot Robbiewhich was present in the four main precursors of the categories of representationand ended up being forgotten in the category of Best actress.

Despite missing their main categories, neither Gerwig nor Robbie went unnoticed in terms of recognition for their work on “Barbie”. Greta Gerwig is nominated for the category of Best Adapted Screenplayalong with her husband Noah Baumbach.

In turn, Margot Robbie is part of the list of producers distinguished by “Barbie” in the category of Best moviealongside David HeymanRobbie Brenner and her husband Tom Ackerley.

Gosling says he feels “extremely honored to have been nominated by his peers alongside such notable artists in a year of so many excellent films. And I never thought I’d say this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud to portray a plastic doll named Ken.”

However, the Oscar nominee highlights that “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie film without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historical film and celebrated worldwide. No recognition would be possible for anyone in the film without their talent, courage and genius.”

Ryan Gosling further states: “To say I’m disappointed they weren’t nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement. Against all odds, with nothing but a pair of soulless, scantily clad and, thankfully, crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, broke our hearts, boosted culture and made history. Your work should be recognized alongside the other very deserving nominees.”

Gosling ends by saying he is very happy to “America Ferrera and for the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to make this film so groundbreaking.”

And you, are you satisfied with the Oscar nominations? Do you agree with Ryan Gosling?
