Nothing better to start the new year than knowing what new things await us on streaming platforms. On SkyShowtime, On SkyShowtime, “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” and “The Curse”. are just two of the many new features on the way during 2024.

2024 will be accompanied by many new features and new premieres on SkyShowtime. The CEO and Chief Content Officer of streaming platform announced during a conference some details of the programming coming to the platform during the year, and they are unmissable.

“The Tattooist of Auschwitz” is one of the big news scheduled, despite not yet having a release date. “The Curse”, “Halo” and “TED” are other exclusive series to look forward to, and there will also be a large selection of blockbusters for all ages such as “Asteroid City” by Wes Anderson”, “Mission: Impossible – Reckoning part 1”, and “Paw Patrol: The Super Movie”.

THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ

“The Tattooist of Auschwitz” will be a SkyShowtime original series and will arrive exclusively on this streaming service in 2024, with a date to be defined.

It is a limited series, produced by Sky Studios and inspired by the worldwide bestseller by Heather Morris. The book tells the real story of Lale and Gita Sokolov, who will be played by Jonah Hauer-King (The Little MermaidWorld on Fire) and Anna Próchniak (Baptiste, Warsaw 44) in the main roles of the series.

Lale was a prisoner in Auschwitz-Birkenau during World War II, and was appointed one of the tätowierer (tattoo artists), responsible for tattooing identification numbers on the arms of other prisoners. One day, he meets Gita when he tattoos her prisoner number, and the two fall in love, giving rise to their courageous story.

60 years later, Lale meets the book’s author and decides to tell her his story. In modern times Lale will be played by Academy Award® nominee Harvey Keitel (The Irishman, Youth), and Heather Morris by Melanie Lynskey (The Last of Us, Yellowjackets)

The six episodes will be directed by Tali Shalom-Ezer, and the soundtrack will be composed by Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve, multiple Academy Award-winning composers. The series will be available exclusively on SkyShowtime in most of its markets, including Portugal.



THE COURSE

The Curse” will be available on the platform from Friday, January 5th.

The series centers on Whitney and Asher Siegel, a newlywed couple trying to bring their vision of green housing to a small community in New Mexico. His struggle catches the attention of a reality TV producer, Dougie, who sees an opportunity in his story. However, the couple ends up involved in a web of questionable ethical situations, while also trying to maintain their relationship.

“The Curse” has the award-winning Emma Stone (La La LandThe Favourite) in the role of Whitney, and Nathan Fielder (The Rehearsal) in the role of Asher. Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer) is Dougie, the eccentric producer. Special appearances also include Barkhad Abdi, Corbin Bernsen, and Constance Shulman.

The series is a SkyShowtime original, co-created, co-written and executive produced by Benny Safdie and Nathan Fielder.

The first five episodes will be available on premiere day, with the remaining five episodes becoming available later, Friday, February 16th.



HALO (S2)

The second season of the hit series “HALO” will arrive on SkyShowtime in February 2024.

Under the leadership of David Wiener (Brave New World), the series takes place in the universe that debuted in 2001 with the release of the first HALO game from the Xbox®, bringing to the small screen an epic 26th century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.

In season two, Master Chief John-117 leads his elite Spartans team against the Covenant threat. Following a shocking event, John risks everything and embarks on a journey to find the key to humanity’s salvation, or its extinction – the Halo.

“HALO” stars Pablo Schreiber (American Gods) as Master Chief Spartan 117 and Natascha McElhone (Californication) as Dr. Halsey, both producers this season. Other returning cast members include Jen Taylor (HALO game series, RWBY) as Cortana, Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Shabana Azmi (Fire), Natasha Culzac (The Witcher), Olive Gray (Half Moon Investigations), Yerin Ha ( Reef Break), Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Kate Kennedy (Catastrophe), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful).

Episodes 1-2 will be available to stream exclusively on SkyShowtime from February 9th, with the remaining episodes releasing weekly thereafter.



TED

“TED” will be available on the streaming platform from February 22nd.

This series is a seven-episode prequel to the successful film saga of the same name, based on and starring Ted the bear. After the height of his fame, it was in 1993 that the bear (voiced by Seth MacFarlane as in the original films) found himself back home, in Framingham, Massachusetts, where he lives with his 16-year-old best friend John Bennett (Max Burkholder), John’s parents Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Despite a terrible influence, Ted is a faithful companion who is always willing to do anything for his friends.

The first 4 episodes of “TED” will be available on the release date. The remaining 3 episodes will arrive on SkyShowtime on April 11th.



MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – SETTLEMENT OF ACCOUNT PART 1

In addition to Tom Cruise in the main role as we are accustomed to in this saga, the film’s cast includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, among others.



ASTEROID CITY

Asteroid City” is the most recent production of Wes Andersonwith his eyes set on the 2024 Academy Awards.

The film is set in 1955, and follows a writer and his fictional play about a father who travels with his technology-obsessed family to a small town in the desert of the American Southwest that barely appears on the map, with the same name. The city’s most famous attraction is a gigantic meteor crater and a nearby celestial observatory. One weekend, military personnel and astronomers are hosting five science-winning children to show off their creations.´
