The Internet is full of threats, some more dangerous than others. This one is really worrying because it is very well done and could lead to people running out of money in their bank account. It all starts with a very well done message that everything indicates that it actually comes from Caixa Geral de Depósitos. However it is not. So if you are a CGD customer, I am very careful about this.

Warning: if you are a CGD customer, be very careful with this!

It all starts with an SMS message that we receive from a source that appears to be from CGD. In fact, this is what is mentioned above, as shown in the image below.

Image of the SMS that reaches the victim

The message states that a new device has been associated with your account. In this case they chose to say that it is a Xiaomi 13. Now especially if you don’t have any of these devices you will soon be distressed. After all, apparently someone got their hands on his account. This is what criminals want to take advantage of. From despair. Therefore, they provide a link that allows you to remove that device from your account.

What happens if I follow that link?

Doing so will land you on a page where you conveniently have to enter your account login details. So you have to enter the contact number, access code and mobile phone number. If you do so, you will give criminals your details to access your account. And do you know why they ask for the phone number? They will also ask you for any unique authentication codes you receive to authorize certain operations.

After entering your data, a page appears indicating that your data is being verified.

At the end, a window appears with the CGD logo saying that you will be contacted within the next 24 hours. In other words, you don’t have to do anything else.

Of course, you will never be contacted and eventually you will have problems with your account. Namely in terms of money. So if you receive the message we showed here, delete it immediately.
