The luxury cast of “Megalopolis” will bring Francis Ford Coppola together with someone very special.
One of the biggest filmmakers of the history of movie theater American is back to show that at 84 years old he still has a lot to offer.
Francis Ford Coppola, remembered for his work in the three films in the series “The Godfather”“Apocalypse Now” or yet “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”is now preparing to premiere “Megalopolis”, an epic that he himself financed.
The work will tell the story of an architect (Adam Driver) who plans to rebuild New York City with a futuristic and utopian vision that goes against the city president’s more conservative plans.
This is a project that has been working on for several years, having been announced for the first time in 2001.
Now, Coppola is finally bringing his dream to the screen and has assembled a great cast: Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Shia LaBeouf, Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman It is Giancarlo Esposito.
In addition to these big stars of Hollywood who will lend their talents to Coppola’s imaginative and bold vision, there is someone with more than close connections to the filmmaker who will also appear in the ambitious project, with “Megalopolis” marking the first time since “The Godfather Part III” that the two work together.
Talia Shirethe eternal Adrian Pennino of “Rocky” (1976), will be in the cast of “Megalopolis”, with a role that has not yet been revealed.
It’s something quite significant since the actress is also the sister of Francis Ford Coppola and played Connie Corleone, the daughter of Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), in the trilogy of “The Godfather”.
In addition to “The Godfather” trilogy, Shire and Coppola also collaborated on the anthology film “New York Stories” in 1989. Shire played Charlotte in the segment “Life Without Zoë”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and co-written with his daughter, Sofia Coppola.
Nominated for two Oscars, Talia Shire has not had as prestigious a filmography as the beginning of her career led one to believe she would have. Since his last collaboration with his brother, Shire has appeared in low-visibility films such as “Chantilly Bridge” (2023) and “Working Man” (2019); or in productions written by her family, such as “Dreamland” (2016) by your child Robert Schwartzman or “Palo Alto” (2013) by his niece Gia Coppola.
With Shire having the opportunity to emerge in a project of high ambition and where he will work with luxury names, this is hopefully what Shire needs to remind everyone of his enormous talent and get better roles and projects in the future .
