The best animated series of recent years, “Rick and Morty”, changed the voices of the main characters and we already know who the chosen ones are.
Dan Harmon created two of best comedy series of recent years – “Community” (2009-2015) and “Rick and Morty” (2013-present). The series starring Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover, Alison BrieGillian Jacobs, Chevy Chase and Ken Jeong He is still missed today.
“Community” ended with the iconic phrase “six seasons and a movie”. Fans still hope that the return can happen, especially after the rumor that the Peacock is working on the much-desired film.
Rebecca Nicholson, from The Guardian, compares the series to a band – “being a fan of Community is like being in love with a tempestuous band: it’s not as good as it was, it has an unstable and rotating line-up and it seems like it’s constantly on the verge of falling apart. But we keep buying the albums – or watching season four – because we can never give up, just in case they get back in shape.”
However, Dan Harmon’s most popular work is animation series “Rick and Morty”. However, the last few seasons have not maintained the level of the previous ones – “it is becoming increasingly clear that the once brilliant science fiction cartoon has run out of ideas and we may be at the beginning of a long and painful journey to the end – even if we still have some fun along the way.”, he said Jake Kleinman of Inverse.
Justin Roiland was the voice of the two main characters for several years but was removed from the series in January this year. The actors who voice Rick and Morty have already been chosen and revealed that it was “a dream come true”.
THE NEW ERA OF THE ANIMATION SERIES
In an interview given to The Hollywood Reporter, Ian Cardoni (Rick) and Harry Belden (Morty) talk about privilege and the dream they just achieved.
As soon as they found out about Justin Roiland’s departure, they immediately started working on the casting. Harry Belden said “I have to throw myself into this. I emailed my agent and said, If you have any requests for this Rick and Morty thing, I make a decent Rick and Morty, so I’d love to be considered and send you my stuff.”
Ian Cardoni also shares a similar opinion, “I already had a range of impressions that I had given to my managers that included the voices of Rick and Morty. But, as Harry said, it was: ‘Wow, this could be a great opportunity, I think I can do these voices’”.
When they received the final acceptance call, it was a dream come true. Harry Belden says “this is literally a dream come true – like, I’m pretty sure I had this dream at one point in my life.” And Ian Cardoni agrees, “I remember getting the call from my agents and my wife was there, thankfully, to make sure I didn’t fall. It was an emotional moment, a dream come true as an actor and as a fan.”
To the nearby seasons of “Rick and Morty” will have new voices leading the animated series.
