Parasyte: The Gray will premiere in the 2nd quarter of 2024

With this photo Netflix announced that Parasyte: The Gray (Kiseiju: The Grey), a Korean live-action series based on the manga Parasyte (Kiseiju) by Hitoshi Iwaakiwill debut on that streaming platform in the 2nd quarter of 2024. The photo is by Jeong Su-inthe main character of the story who is played by Jeon So-nee. In Portugal the series will be titled Parasyte: Grey.

With direction from Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan, Peninsula), the script has the collaboration of Ryu Yong-jae (Peninsula, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) in addition to the director and cast we find Jeon So-nee, Koo Kyo-hwan It is Lee Jung-hyun.

The series Parasyte: The Gray (Kiseiju: The Grey) is based on the manga Parasyte (Kiseiju), but tells its own new story. Jeon plays Jeong Su-in, who has been attacked by a parasite, but “when he fails to take control of her brain, she enters into a bizarre coexistence with him.” Koo’s character, Seol Kang-woo, is chasing parasites to find his missing younger sister. Lee plays the leader of The Gray (a task force fighting parasites) whose husband was killed by them.

The manga Parasyte (Kiseiju) was released on Afternoon from 1990 to 1995 with 10 volumes, later the manga was re-released but in a version with only 8 volumes. The anime series adaptation was considered the best anime series of 2014 us OtakuPT Awards 2014.

The animation studio is the Madhousethe direction is Kenichi Shimizu and the character design is Tadashi Hiramatsu (Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Karekano).

The manga also inspired two Japanese live-action films in 2014 and 2015. The live-action films are directed by Takashi Yamazaki (Space Battleship Yamato, Always: Sunset on Third Street) and feature the participation of Shota Sometani (xxxHOLiC, All Esper Dayo!), Eri Fukatsu (Onnanoko Monogatari) and Oh Hashimoto (Blood-C: The Last Dark, Another, Sadako 3D).

Synopsis of Parasyte (Kiseiju)

The story unfolds in a world where extraterrestrial beings called Parasites have arrived on Earth. They begin to take over humans by entering their noses and ears, eventually attaching themselves to the brain. An alien named Migi is only able to control the right arm of student Shinichi Izumi, the two end up learning to coexist and fight the other Parasites who only see humans as food.
