The Galaxy S24 arrived with several significant updates. However, the one that really catches our attention is undoubtedly Artificial Intelligence. It’s true that some things are similar to what’s on the Pixel 8. However, others are new and very useful. An example of this is Instant Slow-Mo, which uses generative AI to allow you to transform any video recorded on your smartphone into a slow motion video with a long press. Samsung has now confirmed that this functionality will also reach other devices. So somehow Samsung will transform the Galaxy S23 into the Galaxy S24 and also other top devices launched in 2023.

In a post made on Samsung’s South Korean community forums, a moderator explained the function in great detail, saying that it uses the NPU and GPU to generate the missing intermediate frames in a video for slow-motion playback. Most importantly, the moderator confirmed that the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 would have access to Instant Slow-Mo.

In addition to long-pressing to access a slow-motion playback of a regular video, Galaxy S24 owners can also edit and export the slow-motion video for easy sharing.

Presumably, it should arrive alongside other Galaxy AI features that are coming to previous Galaxy smartphones. Rumors indicate that Samsung could launch One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S23 range in March this year.

It’s surprising to see Samsung bring many of the Galaxy S24’s AI features to older devices.

However, remember that Galaxy AI features are only free for two years, until the end of 2025. After that, you will have to pay Samsung to use the features. So, in the long term, Samsung should benefit from adding many of its new AI features to its older phones.
