Steven Yeun had been chosen to bring Sentry to life in this Marvel film. The actor of South Korean origin rose to stardom with his role in the series “The Walking Dead”. After his departure from the popular zombie series, the actor participated in projects such as the films “Okja” and “Minari” but also in series with “Invicible”, where he is the main voice, and in “Beef”. The latter received several nominations for the Golden Globes (Best Limited Series and Best Actor) and the Emmys (Best Limited Series and Best Actor).

One of Steven Yeun’s next films will be “Mickey 17”, the new one by Bong Joon Ho, the director of “Parasites”with Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette and Naomi Ackie. The actor will pair with Kristen Stewart in the film “Love Me”.

In relation to “Thunderbolts”, this was one of the many projects that suffered a lot from the strike of actors and screenwriters, and the original release date of this film was for July 2024. It is clear that this will not happen and that the The film will only premiere in 2025, as filming has not yet started.

During the Disney expo in 2023, some details about this film were revealed, which is considered Marvel’s version of the Suicide squad from DC. It is known that Jake Schreier, director of “Beef”, “Robot and Frank” and “Paper Town”, is the director of this project that will bring together a team of anti-heroes and villains for unconventional missions.



The cast includes Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David HarborWyatt Russell and Julia Louis-Dreyfusall familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Steven Yeun had been chosen to give life to Sentry, Marvel’s version of Superman, who would be the main antagonist of “Thunderbolts”. But why did the actor abandon the project? In a recent interview with VarietyYeun revealed that he had dropped out of the film, having done so due to scheduling conflicts caused by the strikes.

The actor revealed that he wants to make a film Marvel and is hopeful that this will happen, and also showed confidence in Schreier, with whom he worked on “Beef”.
