When we talk about action films there is one name that always comes to mind: Tom Cruise. And now the actor will continue to give us action in more than one place.
Recently, Cruise signed a contract with Warner Bros. Discovery. What does that mean? First, the actor will be the star and producer of original films and even sagas that may be created by the studio. However, this is not an exclusive contract. Cruise continues to work with other studios, such as Paramount Or the Universalhowever, it could give more focus on projects with Warner Bros.. Those responsible for the studio hope that this could give more impetus to the studio, as it has suffered from poor box office results for its recent films, particularly those from A.D.
Cruise had already worked with Warner on projects such as “On the Edge of Tomorrow” as Emily BluntBill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, “Magnolia” with Julianne MoorePhilip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, “Rock of Ages: The Movie” with Constantine Maroulis, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones“Interview with the Vampire” with Brad PittKirsten Dunst, Christian Slatter, Antonio Banderas“Eyes Wide Shut” with Nicole KidmanSydney Pollack, Madison Eginton and “Risky Business” with Rebecca de Mornay, Joe Pantoliano, which was the actor’s first major role.
However, Tom Cruise is still busy with other projects which include: the eighth chapter of the saga “Mission Impossible” for Paramount; a film with “Edge of Tomorrow” director Doug Liman, where he will be the first civilian to take a spacewalk for Universal; and a third chapter of “Top Gun” also for Paramount.
This news came yesterday, when it was revealed that co-screenwriter Ehren Kruger is developing the script for a third film that turned Tom Cruise into an action star. There are also rumors that “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joe Kosinski may also be returning to the director’s chair. This new sequel could also see the return of Miles Teller It is Glen Powellthe new generation of fighter pilots.
“Top Gun: Maverick” was a huge box office success at a time when the industry was still recovering from the pandemic, to the point that Steven Spielberg credited Cruise with saving the industry.
Paramount has not yet commented on the news, but this sequel will not hit the screens anytime soon, firstly due to Tom Cruise’s schedule and secondly because “Maverick” took several years to be developed before it reached the screens.
