Director Baz Luhrmann has been doing something new with some of his projects, and now he has his sights set on “Elvis.”

Baz Luhrmann is an Australian director who has made projects for almost all media, and is known as an example of a contemporary artist with a distinct approach to his projects. This is because the director is deeply involved in the script, design, musical elements and of course the direction.

The director is known for the films “Romeo + Juliet” with Leonardo DiCaprio It is Claire Danes, “Moulin Rouge!” with Nicole Kidman It is Evan McGregor“Australia” with Nicole Kidman It is Hugh Jackman, “The big Gatsby” with Leonardo DiCaprio It is Carey Mulliganand of course “Elvis” with Austin Butler and Tom Hanks.

Recently, the director took his film “Australia” and turned it into a miniseries called “Faraway Downs” with six episodes, which is available in Portugal on Disney+. The story centers on an English aristocrat, Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman), who travels across the world to confront her husband and try to convince him to sell his cattle farm called “Faraway Downs”.

After her husband’s death, a landowner will do everything to get Sarah’s land. To save her land, Sarah teams up with a cattle driver (Jackman) to protect the ranch. The romance between the two is analyzed through the eyes of young Nullah, a biracial indigenous Australian boy.

It turns out that the series had mixed reviews, receiving a score of 53% in Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, the director wants to give the same treatment to his latest film, “Elvis”. The film was a huge success in 2021 and turned Austin Butler into a global star. However, Luhrmann expects there to be some repercussion, largely due to what happened with “Faraway Downs” and how it was received. The director compared this transformation from films to miniseries with songs that a singer can interpret in different ways.

“Elvis” explores the life and music of Elvis Presleyseen from the perspective of his complicated relationship with his agent Tom Parker, and starting with the beginning of his career and his rise to stardom in a way never before seen in the United States.

In addition to Austin Butlerthat you will be able to see him in the series “Masters of the Air” and in the film “Dune – Part 2”and Tom Hanks, the cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Helen ThomsonRichard Roxburgh, Kelvin Harrison Jr., David Wenham, Kodi Smit-McPhee It is Dacre Montgomery.
