Author of Kimi ni Todoke will publish a new manga in 18 years

According to Shueisha the mangaka Karuho Shiinathe author of Kimi ni Todokewill start releasing the manga Toppuu to Beat (Blast of Wind and Beat) in Bessatsu Margaret on March 13, 2024. This is her first new manga in 18 years since the release of Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You in 2006.

The manga will be featured on the cover of the magazine and will have a colorful home page. This will be the first time that the author will have a completely digital workflow in the production of a manga.

The manga’s story takes place in a small coastal town in Hokkaido, where a mysterious girl named Nike meets Nemo, a boy who barely shows his face in class. The encounter leads Nike to embark on a mystery-filled journey to remember the parts of herself she has forgotten.

Karuho Shiina released the manga Kimi ni Todoke in Bessatsu Margaret in 2006 and finished the work in November 2017 with its 30th and final volume being released in March 2018. The manga won the award for Best Shoujo Manga at the 32nd Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2018, and was adapted into an anime in 2009 and a live-action film in 2010.

The third season of the anime Kimi ni Todoke will be called Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You Season 3 (Kimi ni Todoke 3rd Season) and via stream it will be an exclusive Netflix.

The manga had a total of 125 chapters. The second season of the series was adapted up to chapter 46 of the manga, so the anime still has around 79 chapters to adapt.

The soinoff manga Kimi ni Todoke Bangaihen: Unmei no Hito (Kimi ni Todoke Spinoff: Soulmate) was published in Bessatsu Margaret from April 2018 to May 2022.
