Directors talk about AI and lazy animators

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has as director Tomohisa Taguichi (Akudama Drive, Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna) who together with the director Keiichi Hara (Summer Days with Coo and Colorful) participated in the Annecy Festivalbut their statements are generating controversy as reported by Full Frontal Moe.

The panel asked directors what they thought about using AI in animation projects. Hara did not mince words during the event, saying that AI could solve “the problem of lazy animators doing your work for you”. And that AI could produce better animators due to its competitive nature.
