Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has as director Tomohisa Taguichi (Akudama Drive, Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna) who together with the director Keiichi Hara (Summer Days with Coo and Colorful) participated in the Annecy Festivalbut their statements are generating controversy as reported by Full Frontal Moe.

The panel asked directors what they thought about using AI in animation projects. Hara did not mince words during the event, saying that AI could solve “the problem of lazy animators doing your work for you”. And that AI could produce better animators due to its competitive nature.

In the article we can read “He thinks the time will come when AI, which doesn’t complain, doesn’t get tired and doesn’t sleep, will replace humans. But [Hara] Said your generation is safe“.

The article goes on to explain Hara about lazy animators. The director said he recently realized that “One of the problems in the current industry is the non-negligible number of animators who are being paid without doing the work expected of them. Obviously there are a lot of very talented key animators, but there is a pretty significant portion that [não] they do work that is up to standards, if at all!

As for the director Taguchi, the creative was more interested in how AI can impact writing. “She may not be able to write complete scenarios yet, but she can definitely help with story development”, said the director about tools such as GPT Chat. “This is just the beginning, and if these technologies improve enough, they could solve the problem with animators“.
