Discover image of the game Total War: EMPIRE in Attack on Titan

A long time has passed since its release, a fan on Reddit noticed something, Attack on Titan The Final Season studio animators MAPPA used an image from the game Total War: EMPIRE in a scene with a painting as the background.

With the title “Mappa just stole a screenshot from Total War Empire and used it as a painting in the table scene” the fan showed the scene in question where Eren Yeager hits Armin Arlert and the painting appears in the background. You can see the scene above.

Comments varied greatly, from fans questioning “why are there “paintings” of ancient sea battles on Paradis to begin with” The “I don’t understand their logic, there are literally thousands of pieces of copyright-free historical naval war art that could have been taken and placed in this scene and not look out of place and they decided to go with a promotional screenshot of the Steam page of a Total War game?”

Others had more amusing comments, “Honestly, they are so overwhelmed at MAPPA that this is the only corner they could cut on this massive project“passing by”Nah, honestly, this is fire. Whoever at Mappa plays Total War: EMPIRE and added this in there just made the scene 10 times better“.

A Attack on Titan The Final Season premiered in December 2020 with 16 episodes and its second part premiered in January 2022 with 12 episodes.

The first season of the anime series adaptation of the manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) by Hajime Isayama premiered in April 2013 and the second season premiered in April 2017. The first part of the third season premiered in July 2018 and the second half premiered in April 2019.

The direction of Attack on Titan Final Season it’s from Yuichiro Hayashi (Dorohedoro, Kakegurui XX, Garo the Animation, PES: Peace Eco Smile), the animation is from the studio MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, The God of High School, Dororo, Dorohedoro), the script is by Hiroshi Seko (author of Attack on Titan: Lost Girls, Banana Fish, Mob Psycho 100, Vinland Saga), the character design is by Tomohiro Kishi (My Little Monster, 91 Days) and Hiroyuki Sawano is back to compose the song alongside Kohta Yamamoto (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments).

The history of Attack on Titan takes place around a society that lives behind great walls, erected to protect it from grotesque giants known as Titans. In the series, the lives of Eren Jaeger and his friends change forever when an attack by the Titans brings humanity to the brink of extinction. Season 4, which takes place four years after the end of season 3, expands the anime universe and culminates in a historic battle that will determine the future of humanity once and for all.
