The luxury cast of “Dune: Part 2” has just received a surprising addition with the confirmation of the presence of this actress.
After the success of the first “Dune”, the film in Dennis Villeneuve will get a sequel that promises to be much more focused on action than the previous film. “Dune: Part 2” was due to arrive last year, but the strike in Hollywood forced to Warner Bros. to schedule its debut for this year only.
Originally released in 1965, the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert follows the story of a young nobleman, Paul Atreides, on his journey to become the leader he was born to be, on an inhospitable planet full of enemies, both natural and competitors for his place. A first part he was adapted to the cinema in 2021.
If the first film was more “contemplative”, in the words of the filmmaker himself, concerned with presenting us with the atmosphere, the environment of the story, the characters and the objectives to be developed, the second will deliver the promise of an epic narrative that will be a story of war, but also of love, “At the center is a love story between Paul and Chani. How Paul will earn her trust, how she will open her heart to him, and how they will find a way to free the world of Chani from Harkonnen’s grasp. It’s a much more emotional film.”
Until now we knew that the film would feature not only the returns of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Stephen McKinley Henderson , Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgårdbut also with the addition in Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Tim Blake Nelson It is Lea Seydoux in the saga. However, there is a great actress who has just been confirmed as part of the cast of the sequel and no one was expecting it.
Initially desired by fans to fill the role of Princess Irulan (Pugh), Anya Taylor-Joy did not go unnoticed by Villeneuve and is an integral part of the highly anticipated sequel to “Dune”.
A Variety confirmed that the actress nominated for the Emmy for leading the phenomenon of Netflix“The Queen’s Gambit“, appears in the work as a very important and well-known character in the mythology of this epic saga. Not to give spoilers, the publication did not reveal any further details about Taylor-Joy’s role.
In addition to being in the film, Anya Taylor-Joy also surprised by being present at the premiere of the film in London that took place this afternoon.
“Dune: Part 2” arrives in Portuguese cinemas on February 29th.
