Is Samsung thinking it’s Apple again!?

Published

on

A few years ago, when Samsung decided to launch a Galaxy S9 that was extremely similar to the Galaxy S8 before it, and then replicated this same strategy with the Galaxy Note 9, I thought that was all a risky strategy. Why? Well, at that point in the championship, only Apple was able to reuse the same design several times before completely renewing it.

In other words, all other Android manufacturers were opting for new designs, or at least major evolutions of the same design, year after year.

In fact, I believe that it was here that Huawei grew absurdly until it was sanctioned into irrelevance in 2021.

More specifically, the Chinese giant was able to develop and launch different, powerful devices, and always with lots of interesting new features in the mix. Which is exactly why it ended up overtaking Samsung and Apple momentarily, before everything exploded in its hands.

Well, times have changed, but Samsung seems to have fully adopted the strategy that we criticized so much in 2018. Does it work now?

Is Samsung thinking it’s Apple again!?

S22, S23

Therefore, curiously, also very similar to what Apple does every year, we already know everything or almost everything about Samsung’s new Galaxy S24.

Leaks are sometimes accidental, but they are also often intentional! This is because they allow a manufacturer to make people talk about their devices of the future, for several months, consistently, without having to use a very complex or extremely expensive marketing strategy.

However, this indicates that the new Galaxy S24 range will, once again, be something very similar to what Apple does with its iPhone. In other words, it will be extremely similar to last year’s Galaxy S23 range, and in fact, also the Galaxy S22 range from 2 years ago.

Which raises a question…

S22 Ultra, Samsung Security and Privacy

While the Galaxy S23 was a successful launch, which quite honestly was due to the use of Snapdragon processors in all models in the range, but also to a great focus on the software that serves as the basis for the entire Samsung Galaxy ecosystem. The reality is that in 2024 we will see a return of the famous Eyxnos processors, which will not only mean that performance levels will not be consistent across the entire new range of devices, but will also complicate things a little on the development side. and software launch for 2024 and 2025.

In other words, it is not possible to maintain the same levels of efficiency and capacity of the software when the hardware is completely different.

That’s exactly why Apple launches the same thing, with some magic dust year after year, and it actually works very well.

In fact, it works so well, that I just laughed when the news arrived that analysts were anticipating a drop in sales in 2024 and 2025, because Apple isn’t planning anything new for the next iPhone 16.

The reality is that Apple doesn’t need to launch something new! No need to change!

Because there is an incredible level of demand for the latest iPhone, just because this is the latest iPhone.

Furthermore, Apple is able to guarantee new features and incredible support for its entire range of devices, for 5~6 years, without major difficulties. Why? Because all devices are based on the same exact line of hardware development and design. Something that simply happened once on Samsung’s side, but will now stop happening.

So, taking into account that Samsung has improved a lot in recent years on the support side, but it still can’t offer what Apple can… Does it make sense to go back to the same exact design? While also reusing many of the same components from last year, likely at a higher price due to 2023 inflation?

Incredible, extremely interesting question that only you will be able to answer!

s22 ultra

In fact, if the rumors are confirmed, and Samsung launches an S24 Ultra based on a Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoC, while the entire rest of the range hits shelves “only” equipped with an Exynos 2400, it doesn’t give the idea that the Ultra is the only device Premium of the Galaxy S24 range, while the rest is there… Making a figure?

Especially when we look at all the other “high-end” Android devices, which will all obviously hit the market with a Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoC? Good…

Processors don’t matter! What matters is Artificial Intelligence?

Right… But also wrong!

screen time kids

After all, in 2024, no one really knows what it means to have Artificial Intelligence more seriously on a smartphone!

What will AI do for us on a Galaxy S24? It’s an extremely interesting question, especially at a time when changes seem so slight on the outside, and even on the inside, without forgetting that smartphones are increasingly expensive.

Conclusion

I honestly don’t know.

I love Samsung and its design line, and of course, the way it launches and develops smartphones and wearables. But this year 2024… It seems too much like a year of transition, just like 2018 was, when we welcomed the Galaxy S9 and Note 9.

What do you think about all this?
