O LEGO Group announces the series LEGO Ideas London’s iconic Red Telephone Box, one of the city’s most famous symbols created by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott which celebrates its centenary this year.

Designed by John Cramp of the city of Leicester in England, within the scope of the program LEGO Ideas, in which fans can submit a design that other fans can vote on to become an official LEGO set. With a special touch that brings the set to today, the design also included the inclusion of a cell phone holder.

The set includes a door that opens, a light brick on the roof, which, when pressed, illuminates the K2 phone bootha lamppost with vases and a street that evokes a feeling of nostalgia and a lasting connection to a city that shares history and modernity in perfect harmony.

Michael SmyHead of Street at BT Group commented the following:

The red K2 telephone box is seen as a British cultural icon around the world, and we’re delighted that the LEGO Group is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its design with this model. Jumping to today, although communications have evolved rapidly, the iconic K2 continues to play a role among populations thanks to the BT Adopt a Kiosk project. As we continue to build the next generation of communications networks, we are proud of the more than 7,200 phone boxes already adopted across the UK, repurposed as mini-libraries and life-saving defibrillators, among others.
