The year has barely started, which in turn could mean that the pace of new game launches would only increase throughout 2024, however, this does not appear to be the case. This is especially true for Sony and its PlayStation 5.
Sony doesn’t have any big-name exclusives for 2024
Therefore, when talking about the great advantage of the PlayStation 5 over the PC or any of the Xbox Series S/X consoles, the conversation will obviously stop at God of War, Spider-Man, Last of Us, Uncharted, etc… In other words , it is the exclusive games from Sony studios that end up making the difference.
However, despite the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth this February, a temporary exclusive with some weight, the reality is that Sony does not have any AAA games prepared for 2024. It will be a much drier year than what is usual, with a focus on smaller, new IPs or remakes.
This is exactly why a slightly lower number of consoles sold than would be expected is expected.
This is curious, but it is also strange! All in all, Sony was able to offer quality games every year in the PS4 generation. Did something go wrong? Was it the pandemic? Or was it just a lack of planning? Share your opinion with us in the comments box below.
