One of the best directors of all time, Steven Spielberg, has worked with some of the best actors in history. But these five actors stand out from the rest.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom CruiseLiam Neeson, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford and Matt Damon – these are just some of the best actors Steven Spielberg has worked with throughout his career.

With more than 50 years of career, the legendary director knows what it takes to succeed in the seventh art and, therefore, he also knows what the attributes essential for an actor and/or actress to be successful. His filmography includes films such as “Schindler’s List”, “The shark”, “ET – The Extraterrestrial”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “War Horse” and “The Terminal.

Despite this incredible list and the several films that were left out, it wasn’t the actors he worked with that impressed him the most. In this sense, Steven Spielberg considers these five actors to be the best ever.

SPENCER TRACEY

One of the best actors ever and one of the main stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Spencer Tracey won the Oscar for Best Actor twice but not total He was nominated 9 times, a record he shares with Laurence Olivier. His filmography includes films such as “The Judgment of Nuremberg” (1961), “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” (1967), “Captain Courageous” (1938), “Boys Town” (1939), among many others. These last two films earned him two Academy Awards.



HENRY FONDA

An unmissable name in cinema who created an authentic cinema family. “12 Angry Men” (1957), “The Lake House” (1981), “It Happens in the West” (1968), “The Grapes of Wrath” (1940), are some of the best films ever made and were all starring Henry Fonda. As incredible as it may seem, the American actor only received two nominations in the Best Actor category, winning just one for “The Grapes of Wrath”. His children continued the legacy of this acting family – Jane Fonda and Peter Fonda.



JAMES STEWART

He was a film and television actor but became known as the first major Hollywood star to enlist in the army during World War II. Throughout his almost 60-year career, the American actor only won one Oscar for Best Actor in 1941, with “The Philadelphia Story”. He worked with names like Katherine Hepburn It is Cary Grant.



CARY GRANT

Directly from the Old Continent arrives Cary Grant, considered by American Film Institute as the second biggest male star of Hollywood’s golden age. He was only nominated for an Oscar twice and didn’t win either time. He starred in several films that marked that era – “Up Baby” (1938), “The Philadelphia Story” (1940), “His Girl Friday” (1940), “Arsenic and Old Lace” (1944), “Notorious” (1946), “An Affair to Remember” (1957), “North by Northwest” (1959) and “Charade” (1963).



CLARK GABLE

Clark Gable is often nicknamed the King of Hollywood (and rightly so). She starred in more than 60 films in a career that spanned almost 40 years. His filmography includes films such as “Teacher’s Pet”, “San Francisco”, “Manhattan Melodrama“, “Red Dust”, “Run Silent, Run Deep”, “The Misfits”, “Mutiny On The Bounty”, “Gone with the Wind” and, finally, the film that won him the Oscar for Best Actor, “It Happened One Night”.
