In this new version, reimagined by Donald Glover (“Atlanta“) It is Francesca Sloane (“Fargo“), we are introduced to two unknown loners who find work at a mysterious spy agency that offers a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel and a luxury house in Manhattan.

Passed in the moments following the invasion Qing of Joseon, the plot follows the vicissitudes of the noble Grand Prince Jin-han. After his nation’s submission, his older brother, King Lee Sun, is forced to hand Jin-han over as a hostage to the invading Chinese dynasty. However, the prince does not surrender and spends his captivity befriending the Prince Rui of Qing through baduk games.
Jin-han uses this relationship intelligently to influence policies more favorable to his homeland and negotiate its liberation. However, his triumphant return is not well received by the royal court, exposing the internal divisions that persist, even under the rule of a foreign empire.
