Directly from the Old Continent, more specifically from Italy, we find one of the most prolific composers in the history of cinema, Ennio Morricone. Throughout your career composed more than 400 soundtracks between westerns and films by horror.
His career began in the 40s of the last century when he composed classical songs. He quickly moved on to work on the radio, for famous artists and ended up in cinema. Despite being known for the iconic soundtrack of “The Good, the Bad and the Villain” and having worked for some of the best directors of all time – Pier Paolo Pasolini, Michelangelo AntonioniDario Argento, Brian De Palma It is Quentin Tarantino – Ennio Morricone has one other favorite.
THE LESS LIKELY FAVORITE
In a conversation with Apple Musicthe Italian composer chose the soundtrack in “The Red Tent”, by Mikhail Kalatozov, as your favorite and the one you are most proud of.
Ennio Morricone further explains, “it is difficult for a composer to choose his favorite themes. In each of my compositions, I always tried to do my best, pushing my own limits, trying to overcome them.”
