Willem Dafoe’s surprising new life after the success of Poor Creatures

With more than 150 films under his belt, the actor has just starred in “Poor Creatures”. Now Willem Dafoe talks about what his life is like.

With an impressive filmography with works such as “Spider man” (2002), “The headlight” (2019), “Platoon – The Brave of the Platoon” (1986), “American Psycho” (2000), “The Last Temptation of Christ” (1988), “Mississippi on Fire” (1988), “A Crime on the Orient Express” (2017), among others, the iconic American actor Willem Dafoe appeared in more than 150 films throughout his career.

Despite being recognized as the villain of Spider manthe actor was nominated four times for the Oscars – one nomination in the Best Leading Actor category and three nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category.

“Poor Creatures”, by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimosis the most recent film of the actor. According to the official synopsis, we follow “the incredible story of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young Victorian woman who is restored to life by Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), a scientist as eccentric as he is brilliant. Under Baxter’s protection, Bella feels eager to learn, but also thirsty for experiences she’s never had. Then she runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a cunning and libertine lawyer, on a turbulent adventure across the world.”

Acclaimed by criticism specialized “Poor Creatures” put Willem Dafoe back in the spotlight. In an interview with the The GuardianO American actor spoke with leads his life.

It was at your house in new York that the actor took this interview and where he talks about what it was like to work after the actors’ strike that meant he had to stop for four months – “I love working”. But it was his life that the interview focused on. With several animals under his belt, the actor says, “I’m basically a vegetarian, so I do it just for the pleasure of their company and to try to give them a good life, which is a little naive.”

It also talks about the person inside the industry – “of course we need to have an ego to get out of bed. In order to want to do things, we have to have some sense of ourselves. But we don’t want to delude ourselves into thinking we are one thing, being inflexible, thinking we are special.”

O actor North American revealed himself to be a person calm It is serene who, in fact, has been practicing yoga for over 40 years but does not like to talk about the subject – “I am interested in the spiritual impulse, I am interested in religious thought, but you cannot and should not talk about these things publicly, because you fall in the trap of making this our identity.”
