New Deus Ex game has been canceled

O Embracer Group announced that it laid off 97 employees from Eidos Montreal and second Jason Schreier also canceled a new game in the series Deus Ex that the studio was developing.

This has been in development for the past two years and would be expected to go into production at the end of 2024 according to a report from the Bloomberg of people who preferred to remain anonymous.

Although the Eidos Montreal has not publicly addressed the game Deus Exaddressed the layoffs in a statement published on X.

Over the past 17 years, our teams at Eidos have worked on some of the industry’s most beloved series and combined deep storytelling and innovation into unique games. We create memorable experiences and multi-award winning that we are proud of and we know that our team members put their heart and soul into them all.

The global economic context, the challenges of our industry and the global restructuring announced by Embracer ended up affecting our studio. The difficult decision was made to lay off 97 people from the development teams, administration and support services.

We are working to support all affected staff during this transition. These very talented and highly experienced people are entering the job market and we want them to find their next projects and we are helping them do so.

As we navigate these difficult times, the well-being of our team is our priority and our continued commitment to creating games that players can enjoy for the foreseeable future.
