After the Emmys, Elton John makes history

Recently awarded an Emmy, Elton John became the 19th artist to achieve EGOT status, a highly coveted set of awards.

No matter the age, all generations know Sir Elton John, the British singer-songwriter who is also one of the most successful musicians of all time. The career of the man who is also known as “Rocketman” has been in existence for sixty years, having released more than forty albums over the decades. As one of the most successful musicians of all time, Elton John has already been honored with the industry’s highest awards and, this year, he even made history, joining a list that very few have access to.

In 1987, Elton John was awarded a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group, thus beginning the race for the most important entertainment awards. Throughout his impressive career, the musician won three other Grammys, in addition to two Oscars and a Tony. However, the musician still lacked the distinction of an Emmy to be able to achieve the grand slam of entertainment. The composer Richard Rodgers (responsible for the soundtrack of “Música no Coração”) was the first artist to achieve EGOT status, that is, to win the highest awards in the entertainment industry – Emmy, Grammy, Oscar It is Tony. ELTON JOHN’S FANTASTIC CAREER

As the son of a trumpet player, Elton John began studying music at just seven years of age, and immediately stood out, which led him to win a scholarship to the British Academy of Music. Gradually, he began performing at smaller parties for his family and, at fifteen, he was hired as a pianist at a local pub. Later, he joined a band with which he achieved some success.
