We have entered the last week of the year! We are counting down to another New Year. Until then, let yourself be carried away by the best films on Portuguese television!

And so, in the blink of an eye, another year passed. We are in the last week of 2023, a year that has turned out to be full of great films – “Oppenheimer“, “Barbie“, “Super Mario Bros. The film“, “Asteroid City“, “Indiana Jones and the Mark of Destiny“, among many others.

While these films are still awaiting their big debut on streaming platforms and also on Portuguese television channels, there are many others to discover, the last week promises!

CINEMUNDO CHANNEL

MASTERMINDS – MESTRE BLOW (26 DECEMBER 8:55 PM)

Starring Kristen WiigKate McKinnon, Jason Sudeikis, Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis, this 2016 film tells the story based on real events, dating back to 1997. According to the official synopsis, “Dave Ghantt, a night guard for an armored car company in the southern USA who, in an act boldly, he decides to carry out one of the most publicized robberies in the history of his country. Despite their inexperience and a lot of clumsiness – which ensured that they ended up being caught by the police – he and his partners managed to steal more than 17 million dollars. After some time enjoying all kinds of luxuries, Dave finds himself betrayed by his friends, who abandon him in Mexico and run away with the money.”



AXN MOVIES

GOONIES (DECEMBER 27, 9:00 AM)

The iconic film juvenile “Goonies” will be shown again on television Portuguese. Wesley Lovellfrom the CinemaSight, gave 3 out of 4 possible stars, “Goonies” is a fun film and has a cult following among teenagers from the 80s, who remember the film well. Adults will enjoy watching it with their children, as it is a more subdued family film than those currently released.”

SHAKESPEARE’S PASSION (DECEMBER 28, 4:35 PM)

Directed by John Madden and starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes and Ben Affleck, “The Passion of Shakespeare” won seven Oscars, including Best Film. According to the official synopsis, “at the end of the 16th century in London, the young playwright William Shakespeare struggles to finish his last work “Romeo and Ethel the Sea Pirate’s Daughter”, but is unable to write a line, as he lacks the inspiration. Meanwhile, a big fan of his, the young and rich Viola, who is about to marry the insensitive Lord Wessex but who dreams of becoming an actress, disguises herself as a boy to go to the audition for Will’s play in order to get the role of Romeo, since at that time women were not allowed to play in the theater. Will discovers the disguise and they end up falling in love, experiencing a forbidden romance and providing Will with the inspiration he needed to finish the play.”



FOX MOVIES

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL (DECEMBER 29, 4:30 PM)

For the public, it is the worst film in the entire “Indiana Jones” saga. Even so, critics gave it a 77% rating on the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Paul Byrnes, from Sydney Morning Herald, he writes, “it’s like seeing an old, dear friend. Indiana made us feel like we could be stronger and braver if we tried. And he wasn’t a modern superhero, just a guy who combined a thirst for knowledge with great courage and ingenuity.”



HOLLYWOOD CANAL

WONDER WOMAN 1984 (DECEMBER 28, 9:30 PM)

The big highlight of the week goes to one of the few superhero films starring a woman. Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman in this beautiful adaptation.



TV CINE

THERE IS A WOLF ON THE PIER (DECEMBER 30, 8:15 PM) – EDITION

One of Marlon Brandon’s best films, “The Wolf on the Pier”, won 8 Hollywood Academy Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor. With a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoesis one of the best films in the history of American cinema.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD (31 DECEMBER 7:20 pm) – TOP

And finally, a film full of action, animation and lots of comedy. Starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman and Michael Rooker, “The Suicide Squad”, according to the official synopsis, follows “Harley Quinn who joins a group of supervillains trapped in Belle Reve willing to do anything to get out of there. So they join the super secret and dubious Task Force X, armed to the teeth, and left on a remote island on a search and destroy mission.”
