China has been trying to move away from US-based technologies and products.

The country’s government has injected billions of dollars into the research, development and production of semiconductor technologies. Huawei and other local companies have seen a resurgence in smartphone sales. Apple shares have fallen since news of the ban was revealed. Even the share prices of Apple suppliers, including LG Innotek and Minebea Mitsumi, fell. iPhone sales are expected to decline, which will directly affect Apple’s revenue in the coming months and years. It is expected that this ban will also unofficially affect private companies. This is because smaller businesses in lower-tier cities will have issued their own verbal directives to stop using non-Chinese phones. Although the Chinese government has officially denied banning iPhones and Samsung cell phones in the past, the severity of the ban will vary from one agency to another. Some government agencies may prevent employees from using an iPhone or Samsung cell phone in the workplace, while others may prevent them from using non-Chinese cell phones altogether.
