Damsel, the Netflix film filmed in Portugal, highlights Millie Bobby Brown again in new trailer

Millie Bobby Brown is the star of one of Netflix’s next big films, “Damsel”.

The partnership between Brown and Netflix has been going on for a long time, which began with the hugely successful series worldwide “Stranger Things”. This is in production for its fifth and final season, however it is known that this new season will not hit the screens this year.

The second project that brought together the British actress and the streaming platform was the adaptation of the books by “Enola Holmes”where Millie Bobby Brown is the protagonist alongside Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes. A third chapter of these films is already planned, but filming only took place after Brown finished filming “Stranger Things”.

The actress has already revealed that she is ready to leave Eleven behind and pursue new stories that she is passionate about and one of these projects is “The Maiden”, where in addition to being the protagonist, Brown is also one of the executive producers through PCMA Productions, a company created by you and your sister.

This film was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillowho gained recognition after having directed “28 Weeks Later”, the sequel to the film by Danny Boyle with Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston and Alex Palmer. Fresnadillo was full of praise for Brown, saying that the actress understood very well what kind of film “The Maiden” is.

Some images had already been revealed with a first teaser of the Netflix film, but now its first trailer has come out, where we see Brown as Princess Elodie, a princess who agrees to marry a prince and carry out her royal duty, doing your family happy.

However, the family she joins has secrets and Elodie will be betrayed by being sacrificed to pay off an old debt, but she was not the first to be sacrificed and finds traces of all the other young women who suffered what she will suffer.

In addition to Millie Bobby Brown, the cast also features Angela Bassett as Elodie’s stepmother, Robin Wright like Queen Isabelle, Ray Winstone like the King, Nick Robinson as Prince Henry and Brooke Carter as Henry’s sister Floria.

There is a very special detail about this film, particularly for us Portuguese, as some of the recordings were made in our country, and if you pay attention you can see some well-known places. This Netflix production visited the Convent of Christ in Tomar, the Monastery of Batalha and Sortelha, Sabugal, Guarda.


“The Maiden” is scheduled to premiere on March 8th on Netflix.
