Sales of the manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End soared after the anime’s debut

In September 2023 we reported that the manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) by Kanehito Yamada It is Tsukasa Abe had 10 million copies in circulation, and now 2 months after the premiere of its anime series adaptation, its official twitter revealed that the number of copies is now 17 million copies, which means that after the premiere of the anime they were sold in 2 months over 7 million copies.

The official Twitter thanked fans and confirmed that the 12th volume will be released on September 18, 2023.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End began publication in Weekly Shonen Sunday in April 2020.

The animation for the anime adaptation is by the studio Madhouse (Sonny Boy, No Guns Life, Overlord), directed by Keiichirō Saitō (Bocchi the Rock!), the script is by Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., One-Punch Man, Boogiepop and Others), the character designs are by Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny) and the song was delivered to Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Josee, The Tiger and the Fish, Muv-Luv Alternative).

  • Nobuhiko Okamoto like Himmel.
  • Hiroki Touchi like Heiter.
  • Youji Ueda like Elsen.

Synopsis for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren)

The Demon King was defeated, and the victorious group of heroes returned to their respective homes after disbanding. The four (magician Frieren, hero Himmel, priest Heiter and warrior Eisen) look back on their decade-long journey when it’s time to say goodbye. But the passage of time is different for elves, so Frieren witnesses his beloved companions slowly die.

Before his death, Heiter manages to impose on Frieren a young human apprentice named Fern. Driven by the elf’s passion for gathering a series of magical spells, the pair embark on a seemingly aimless journey, revisiting the places that ancient heroes visited. Throughout his travels, Frieren slowly comes to grips with his regrets over missed opportunities to form deeper bonds with his deceased companions.
