Second part of the anime NieR: Automata Ver1.1a confirmed

The official website of NieR: Automata Ver 1.1athe anime series adaptation of the game NieR: Automata, confirmed with this teaser trailer that a second cour (2nd part) is in production. No further information has been revealed so far.

The anime series NieR: Automata Ver 1.1a he had several problems production that caused long periods without new episodes. The anime series premiered on January 8, 2023, but its 12 episodes were only broadcast on July 23, 2023.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a is supervised by Yoko Taro, the game’s creator. It is animated by A-1 Pictures (Lycoris Recoil, 86: Eighty-Six, Sword Art Online, Magi) and is directed by Ryouji Masuyama (Blend S, Hello WeGo!). Character design is in charge of Jun Nagai and the musical themes are from the music studio MONACA. The game’s cast of 2B (Yui Ishikawa), 9S (Natsuki Hanae), Pod 042 (Hiroki Yasumoto) and Pod 153 (Kaoru Akiyama) returns to play their roles.

A Square Enix describes the game’s story like this:

NieR:Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia invaded by powerful machines.

Humanity was driven from Earth by mechanical beings from another world. In a final effort to retake the planet, the human resistance sends a force of android soldiers to destroy the invaders. Now, a war between machines and androids rages on… A war that may soon reveal a long-forgotten truth of the world.

The game NieR: Automata was released for PlayStation 4 in Japan in February 2017, followed by North America and Europe in March 2017. Square Enix also released the game for PC via Steam in March 2017 and for Xbox One in June 2018. The game was released on Nintendo Switch on October 6.
