The most anticipated Marvel and Star Wars series on Streaming in 2024

Some of the plans for what is to come in 2024 on Disney+ were revealed with a focus on Marvel and Star Wars series.

Warning: Many of these series do not yet have confirmed release dates in Portugal.

The platform streaming Disney+, like many other studios and other platforms, has suffered from strikes of the actors and screenwriters who basically stopped everything in Hollywood. This means that many of the plans have been postponed, which means that 2024 could be a weak year for news.

Some of Disney+’s most popular series have been confirmed for 2024, such as the final season of “Modern Family”new episodes of the 12th season of “Futurama”the new season of “Welcome to Wrexham” with Ryan Reynolds It is Rob McElhenney and the new season of the popular series “The Bear”.

One of the first major premieres to arrive in 2024 will be the miniseries “Shogun”an adaptation of the book by James Clavell, which takes place in feudal Japan at the beginning of a civil war that marked the country’s history.

The cast of this series is mostly Japanese, including: Hiroyuki Sanada (“Wolverine”); Cosmo Jarvis (“Lady Macbeth”); Anna Sawai (“Fast and Furious 9”); Tadanobu Asano (“Thor: Ragnarok”); Hiroto Kanai; Takehiro Hira (“Snake Eyes: The Origins of GI Joe”); Moeka Hoshi; Tokuma Nishioka; Shinnosuke Abe; Yuki Kura; and Fumi Nikaido.

This series is already scheduled to premiere in Portugal on February 27th and will have 10 episodes.



The year 2024 will be a good year for Marvel on Disney+. Starting with the long-awaited “Echo” series, which focuses on the story of Maya Lopez, introduced during “Hawkeye”a deaf and Native American woman.

The plot will take place after the events of “Hawkeye”, however it will explain how Maya and Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin, met. This series will present itself as more realistic, making it the first Marvel series to receive an R rating.

The cast includes Alaqua Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Zach McClarnon, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, K. Devery Jacobs, Chaske Spencer and Cody Lightning. All episodes of “Echo” will be available on January 10th on Disney+.

The other Marvel project arriving in 2024 will be “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” created by Jac Schaeffer and which will revolve around the character of Agatha Harkness that we saw in “WandaVision”.

In the comics, Agatha Harkness is a powerful witch who is associated with the magical aspects of the universe. Marvel. This character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

The cast of this series includes the return of Kathryn Hahn, Audrey PlazaPatti LuPone, Joe Locke and Debra Jo Rupp. Regarding the premiere, there is still no specific date.



Now we head to a distant galaxy with new projects from the Star Wars universe that are broadcast on Disney+. The first is “Star Wars: The Acolyte”, a mysterious thriller that takes us to the last days of the High Republic era where secrets and the dark side of the force are emerging.

The cast of this series includes Amandla Stenberg (“The Hunger Games”), Lee Jung-Jae (“Squid Game”), Manny Jacinto (“Nine Perfect Strangers”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”), Charlie Barnett (“Russian Doll”), Dafne Keen (“His Dark Materials”), Rebecca Henderson (“Inventing Anna”), Dean-Charles Chapman (“1917”) and Carrie Anne-Moss (“The Matrix”).

Another series from this universe that will arrive in 2024 is “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”, a series where children are in power and is led by Jude Law in the cast.

However, not everything is good news for fans of Star Wars. There are two series that are very likely not to return in 2024 but rather in 2025 on Disney +: the new season of “Star Wars: Andor” with Diego Luna, Kyle Soller and Stellan Skarsgard; and the new season of “The Mandalorian” with Pedro PascalChris Bartlett and Katee Sackhoff.
