THE EIGHT HATED
Some time after Civil war, a stagecoach crosses the wintry landscape of Wyoming. Bounty hunter John Ruth and his escaped prisoner, Daisy Domergue, race toward the town of Red Rock, where Ruth will bring Daisy to justice. Along the way, they encounter Major Marquis Warren (an infamous bounty hunter) and Chris Mannix (a man who claims to be the new sheriff of Red Rock).
Lost in an intense snowstorm, the group seeks refuge in Minnie’s Haberdashery. When they arrive, they are greeted by unfamiliar faces: Bob, who says he is taking care of the house while Minnie is away; Oswaldo Mobray, the executioner of Red Rock; Joe Gage, a cowboy; and Confederate General Sanford Smithers. As the storm grips the mountainside, the eight travelers discover that they may not make it to Red Rock after all. Another excellent production of Quentin Tarantino which is on Netflix.
THE POST: THE SECRET WAR
In 1966, during the Vietnam War, State Department military analyst Daniel Ellsberg follows American troops in combat, documenting U.S. military progress in the region for Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. On the flight home, McNamara privately tells Ellsberg and William Macomber that the war in Vietnam has no solution.
Upon landing, he tells the press that he has every confidence in the war effort. Ellsberg, upon hearing this, is disillusioned. Years later, as a civilian soldier hired by the RAND Corporation, Ellsberg surreptitiously photocopies hundreds of confidential reports that document the country’s decades-long involvement in the Vietnam conflict, dating back to the Truman administration. Ellsberg then decides leak these documents for the The New York Times.
