February is almost here and TVCine channels are ready to welcome you with lots of news!
This new month is Oscar month, so two specials are being prepared for films nominated for and winners of cinema’s biggest award. In addition, many films and series will arrive on these channels such as “The Black Phone”, “Jurassic World: Dominion”, “The Thing About Pam”, “Malpractice”, the return of “FBI: Most Wated”, among others .
TVCINE TOP
We start the month of February with the last chapter of the horror saga, “Insidious: The Red Door”, on the 2nd at 9:30 pm. In this film, the original cast returns where the new generation has to deal with demons. Patrick Wilson is one of the protagonists, as well as the director of the film, alongside Ty Simpkins, Rose ByrneSinclair Daniel and Hiam Abbass.
On the 9th at 9:30 pm, it arrives at TVCine Top “Jurassic World: Dominion”, the final chapter in the Jurassic Park saga. The events of this film take place four years after the destruction of Nublar Island where dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans, but this balance is very difficult to maintain. This film features Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas HowardLaura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill.
Another critical success debuts in February. On the 10th, at 9:30 pm, “The Black Telephone” arrives, inspired by a short story by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King, where a 13-year-old is kidnapped by a serial killer and placed inside a soundproof basement , with just a telephone on the wall. That phone starts ringing and the young man realizes that he can hear the voices of previous victims who are going to help him. The cast includes Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames (who stars in the live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon”), Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and E. Roger Mitchell.
For Valentine’s Day, three films are prepared that celebrate love with: “Todas As Formas de Amor”; “Big Sky River”; and “The Legacy of the Enchanted Veil”. The first starts airing at 6:35 pm.
Finally, we leave something new for the younger ones with “Minimals 2: The Rise of Gru”, where we will see Gru’s first steps into the world of crime and how he found the minimum. On the 16th, at 9:30 pm, the original version will be broadcast and the Portuguese version will be shown the morning of the following day.
TOP EDITION
At TVCine Edition we will start with the Oscar nominees special. During the Sundays of February, 4th to 18th, several films that received nominations but failed to win the much-desired golden statuette will be broadcast. In this list of films you can count on: “The Bodyguard”, “Red Tide”, “Munich”, “A Quiet Place”, “Blade Runner – Imminent Danger”“The Shawshank Redemption”, among many others.
On February 7th, the miniseries “Angelyne” will premiere, which follows the myth of a mysterious woman who began appearing on all Los Angeles billboards in the 1980s, in suggestive photos on top of a pink Corvette. The cast includes Emmy RossumAlex Karpovsky, Lukas Gage, Martin FreemanHamish Linklater, David Krumholtz and Michael Angarano.
If you are a fan of janet jackson, or want to get to know her better, don’t miss a documentary that premieres on the 9th at 10:20 pm. This project was divided into four parts, where we followed the story of the popular artist and sister of Michael Jackson and her personal challenges.
That’s not all, there is another special that starts during the month of February and continues into March, this is an Oscars special, only this time focusing on films that have won. On Sundays from February 25th to March 10th, 25 films that took home a statuette will be shown. You can count on: “The Age of Innocence”, “Fame”, “Top Gun – Indomitable Aces”, “Le Mans ’66: The Duel”“Atonement”, “Philadelphia”, “Jerry Maguire”, “Once Upon a Time in….Hollywood”, “The whale”, “Everything Everywhere at the Same Time”among many others.
TVCINE EMOTION
TVCine Emotion starts February with the miniseries “The Thing About Pam”, which premieres on the 7th at 10:10 pm. The series focuses on a crime that exposed a diabolical scheme after the death of Betsy Faria. Her husband was the accused, however, it was Pam, a friend, who last saw Betsy. The cast has Renée Zellweger, Josh Duhamel and Judy Greer.
On February 13th, a new medical series arrives with “Malpractice”. This British series follows a very intelligent and hard-working doctor from the UK health service, however, during one shift she loses a patient, victim of an opiate overdose. Now the family and the hospital want answers about what happened. The cast includes Niamh Algar, Jordan Kouamé, Helen Behan, James Purefoy and Scott Chambers.
Finally, on the 22nd, one of the most popular police series of the moment returns, with the premiere of the fifth season of “FBI: Most Wanted”. This series follows a special unit that hunts down and captures criminals who are on the FBI’s most wanted list. The cast has Shantel VanSantenDylan McDermott, Edwin Hodge, Roxy Sternberg and Keisha Castle-Hughes.
TVCINE ACTION
At the end of the month, TVCine Action presents two films that did not reach Portuguese cinemas. On the 28th, “Falso Positivo” premieres with Ilana Glazer, Pierce Brosnan and Justin Theroux. The film follows a couple who are trying to get pregnant and enlist the help of a fertility specialist, but this doctor is not to be trusted.
The following day “Foge, Coelho, Foge” premieres with Sarah Snook, Lily LaTorre, Neil Melville, Katherine Slattery and Damon Herriman. The film follows a mother and her daughter as she begins to behave strangely, followed by the unexpected appearance of a rabbit.
