Suzume’s journey begins in the peaceful city of Kyushu, in southwestern Japan, when she meets a boy who tells her he is looking for a “door”.

Suzume finds, in ruins and surrounded by water, a door aged by time, standing and isolated as if it had been the only thing to escape the catastrophe that struck the place. Attracted by her power, Suzume turns the handle… and several doors open across Japan, unleashing a wave of destruction on everyone nearby. Suzume will have to close these doors to prevent total destruction.
