The latest issue of Afternoon revealed that the manga adaptation by Denki Amashima from the anime film Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari / Suzume’s Door-Locking) by Makoto Shinkai (your name., Tenki no Ko) will end in the magazine’s next issue in December 2023.

Synopsis of Suzume
On the other side of the door is all the time in the world.
Suzume tells the story of a 17-year-old teenager and her journey through a Japan devastated by various calamities and where she will have to close the doors that caused these disasters.
Suzume’s journey begins in the peaceful city of Kyushu, in southwestern Japan, when she meets a boy who tells her he is looking for a “door”.
Suzume finds, in ruins and surrounded by water, a door aged by time, standing and isolated as if it had been the only thing to escape the catastrophe that struck the place. Attracted by her power, Suzume turns the handle… and several doors open across Japan, unleashing a wave of destruction on everyone nearby. Suzume will have to close these doors to prevent total destruction.
Shinkai stated that three important points about the film are that it is a road movie through Japan, a story about “closed doors” instead of opening them and a reason to visit the cinema. He elaborated that closing doors can refer to tying up loose ends or finishing something.
