Will smartphones become more expensive again in 2024!?

Published

The smartphone is nowadays the most important device in our lives! It is through this small electronic device that we talk to friends and family, stay up to date with the latest news, handle our money, and sometimes it is even through the screen of this device that we get much of our entertainment.

This is exactly why the smartphone has been evolving in a purely and simply incredible way over the last few years, which has consequently also meant an sometimes almost absurd increase in its purchase price.

Which ends up raising a question… What is the maximum price for a smartphone these days? Are you willing to go beyond €1500?

Therefore, whether high-end or mid-range, the smartphone itself is no longer as affordable a device as in the recent past, especially after the madness of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After all, any mid-range device appears on the market for around €500, and a serious top-of-the-range device is always around €1400~1500. Want some examples? The Galaxy S23 Ultra reached €1449, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra reached €1499, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max reached €1499.

Of course there are cheaper alternatives, but still incredible, as is the case with Xiaomi 13T Proor the Nothing Phone (2). But, when talking about high-end, we really have to look at the top of the mountain, and not look at what is further down. After all, this is where the exponent of performance and design is, and as such, this is where all consumers want to be.

But, if you think €1400 or €1500 is too much money for a smartphone, well… You have reasons to worry!

In case you didn’t know, with the arrival of Artificial Intelligence in earnest, manufacturers will have to significantly increase the RAM and storage capacity present in each device. Furthermore, processors (SoC) will also become a little more complex, and therefore more expensive.

Who will pay for all this? It will be you, of course.

The big price increase may not happen until 2024. Why? Well, many Android manufacturers are still recovering from an aggressive drop in demand for new devices in 2022 and 2023.

Furthermore, Apple chose to maintain the price of the Pro Max model, while lowering the price of its always super popular Pro model. All of this means that there isn’t (yet) much room to increase.

But, it is undeniable that prices will start to increase, and you will most likely pay willingly… Or not? Share your opinion with us in the comments box below.
